Legal Membership/ Protection
Concealed Carry Insurance is essential to consider mitigating your liability.
I have sought a home insurance carrier that offers liability protection for firearm related injuries and self-defense scenarios. So what does this mean? If you shoot a home invader inside your own home, expect to be sued. If you have the correct insurance, expect some backing. If you don’t, you risk everything in your name. Most of the major insurance carriers do not include concealed carry insurance. Consult your insurance agent for details of concealed carry coverage. If he/she doesn’t know, seek someone else. In addition to concealed carry coverage, there are memberships and other policies that protect the armed citizen from civil and legal litigation should you be involved in a clean shoot. The membership I am member of is the CHL Protection Plan. My concealed carry insurance is a meager $126 per year and covers legal fees for any legally encountered firearm incident. In addition to my concealed carry coverage, I also prescribe to homeowners/umbrella policies that cover me in similar situations.
Realize, you will be sued should you use your firearm. There are far too many lawyers out there willing to take the case contingent upon winning the case and have no problems dumping truckloads of cash into your prosecution to win a buck. As a law-abiding citizen, you will not have lawyers jumping at the bit to protect you and only charge you if you win. For this reason, please protect yourself and be prepared. The bullet(s) you send out of that barrel will change your life forever, emotionally, psychologically, and financially – protect all you can.
